Some of Jody Derrick’s Witness
I was being my usual mischievous self not acting Christian like
one day… My dog had gotten out. I looked in my car then on my bike. It was
misting outside all day… no thunder or lightning… it was kind of nice… anyway
found the dog and was running her home. Chancy had just entered our property.
Boom!!! Chancy’s legs disappeared into her hair and nosed into the grass. The
flash was brilliant. The electricity charged my body from the frame of the
bike. It went around the rubber handle and charged and discharged into the back
of my thumb knuckle. When this was happening the hair stood up on my wet arms. My
thumb had a white spot on it for a while… I drove on into the garage where my wife
met me. Lightning struck the house!!!, she exclaimed. I know I said. After checking
on the kids. They said they had angels comforting them, not small one either. When
God moves, the earth moves.
I was not a Christian and my wife took a lot from me. She blurted
out that she loved god more than me. This really ticked me off. I blurted out
that I love God more than her too! That was a loaded statement, God never left
me alone after that, I am a Christian now…
I got laid off from FWMurphy and had to do odd jobs for 2
years. On my second week commuting to work in Ponca City I got a sign from god
that he is there too. There it was “I am” in cursive the clouds above Ponca
City from the Cimarron Turnpike. The last quote transformed into a jc. I did
not have a camera.
I was at Dad’s Place (a youth camp) and there was a
Christian presentation for intercity youth. In the south west was a thunderhead
approaching. As David started the event the men in the group prayed that the
storm would stall until the event was over. As the event was unfolding I would
look over and watch the storm. The front of it had a grid of 10 x 10 divots in
it pressing it back. No one else remembered it, but it happened and blew
through after the event was over.
I told my wife that we would only be in Ponca City for a
couple years. Before the 2 years were over I was offered to be plant manager
where I worked. I was manager for 38 months. Later new management decided that
my talents would be better doing something else. I and eventually received my
old job back. So I got my old job back with help too.
Our church needed a new home. I asked the pastor if he
wanted the city auditorium, he said yes. I had a business meeting about a
project. I was there with the city manager all to myself. I told him my church
was trying to rent the city memorial auditorium and we were getting pushback
from the city about it. He was eager to help and made a call and made it
happen. Devine appointment – yes.
There was a day that I received horrible new that would cost
me my job and it grieved me to the bone. I drove home from PC to Blackwell on
that summer night. There was no bugs hitting the windshield. I was at the last
2 bridges going to Blackwell when I was inspired to say “Fiery Dart!”, before
the second syllable was uttered a big blood bug hit the windshield and looked
just like a fiery dart. Recap, no bugs on the wind shield all evening that one
bug! I had perfect piece after that, thank you God!
So our kids were nearly out of the house all grown up.
Lauralene asked to we wanted to foster and adopt. I said that I had always been
waiting on her. Story. Story. Story. Anyway it came time to adopt the 1st
3 kids. My oldest child had a lot of grief with renaming them. We laid the
names out for them and he rejected them. We were grieved! As I woke up the next
day with my face in my pillow I was given a vision of Jesus’ robe. It had all
of his names moving down it in Hebrew. This showed me that having more than one
name was perfectly okay. I could feel the covers on my bed while I was watching
this vision. I was awake in Jesus’ presence. We had peace again.
My kids have been a great blessing to Kay county and
Oklahoma. My daughter worked with a Christian radio station for 8 years, Wow! My
son led a co-worker to Christ with signs and wonders. Both are active in the
church.
Now 15 years later in Kay County at the same place, we have adopted 9 kids what else could I ask for?
